"One thing technology promises us is speed, acceleration, more of everything in less time," said Paul Smith, a visual artist working on the project.
"Culturally, we seem obsessed with immediacy. Time is not to be taken but crammed to bursting point."

I’m finishing the last chapter of my book today (can’t wait for it to be done!) and so I thought I’d take a break and leave you with some of my favorite old articles, in case you missed them — the articles on simplicity.
As you might already know, living the simple life is one of my passions, and one of my greatest achievements. Sure, my life could probably get even simpler, but I’m happy with where I am. I hope that these articles can help you in your journey to a simpler life, should you choose such a path.
A quick note: There are a lot of articles below. You don’t have to read all of them. In fact, in the name of simplicity, please don’t. Choose a sample, and you’ll do just fine — there are some common themes that run through all of them anyway.

Ice cream sandwiches are the perfect dessert for a summer night with friends or a backyard barbecue. They’ll cool you down quickly, and you don’t need any utensils or dishes to eat them! It’s also a lot more fun to make them than buy the prefab kind at the grocery store (which probably contain way too many ingredients you can’t pronounce). Plus, if you make them yourself, you get to customize: imagine peanut butter cookies with chocolate ice cream filling …
Ice cream sandwiches are really very simple to make. Here are a few tips:

Both of the big powerhouses in the digital SLR camera market -- Canon and Nikon -- make software with which you can control your camera from your PC through an attached USB cable. It is a nice tool for situations when manually triggering the shutter might cause shake (such as long exposures), or for automating multiple shots at timed intervals. But, naturally, the camera makers don't supply this software for free operating systems -- and just as naturally, the open source world has an answer. You can perform the same remote operation functions using gPhoto.

[Stares down-page in faint terror.] What a lot of arguments we’re going to have today. So, for those of you currently visiting us in search of gaming rather than debating, hopefully this will do the trick.
The chaps behind the splendid Flash version of Portal have generously converted their 2D maps into 3D versions for Portal-actual. All 40 of them. At three and a half hours of happy puzzle-solving, this mega-pack is pretty much equivalent to Portal itself in terms of length. In terms of quality? You tell me. … [visit site to read more]

Blend together eggs, water and salt. Add oil to a 6 inch sloped sided non-stick fry pan.
Heat oil, on medium for one minute; add egg mixture and cook.
As the eggs begin to set, with a spatula, lift the edges and let the raw mixture run to the bottom of the pan.
When the top is no longer runny, but still moist, sprinkle the cheese on ½ of the omelet
With a spatula, flip the omelet in half. The cheese will take about 20 seconds to melt.
Slide the omelet onto your plate.
Garnish with chives and black pepper.
